Ganesha's Race

Shiva and Parvati had two sons, Ganesha and Kartikeya. One day they were given a special fruit, and it could not be shared.

"Whoever goes round the world three times first will get it," said their parents.

Kartikeya jumped on his peacock and flew away fast. Ganesha only had a small mouse. What could he do?

He walked slowly round his mother and father three times. "You are my whole world," he said.

Shiva and Parvati smiled, and gave him the fruit.

**What we learn:** Love and respect for our parents, and thinking calmly, matter more than being fast.
